OLOH TV – Having A Block Island Boating Blast!

When we were dreaming of moving into the cruising lifestyle, our anticipation was that we would winter on board in warm latitudes and move the boat between Florida and New York to enjoy it throughout the year. While we’ve had an exceptional time since realizing the dream, the practical reality has worked out differently.

Moving the boat between the north and south is most certainly an adventure. When we first brought OLOH to Florida in 2017 it was a very exciting trip. While it wasn’t our first time relocating a boat along that route, it was our first time on our own boat, and we took the time to enjoy the journey as much as possible. While we’ve enjoyed our subsequent trips, it has become much more about getting the boat from one seasonal home to another. Once the boat has landed at its final destination, we find ourselves simply living aboard and enjoying that lifestyle, but there’s not much actual boating going on (other than adventures on the tender).

That’s why this particular trip was an important one for us to make. We wanted to take a boating vacation, much in the way we did throughout our boating life prior to OLOH. And what a great move it was. It truly reminded us of how much we enjoy it. And while we will still have “delivery” trips to make, getting back to our roots will hopefully help us find ways along those deliveries to better embrace the journey.

Block Island is a special place and has always been one of our favorite destinations. It’s trapped in time in all the right ways. At any time you can seek out the festive vibe of people on vacation or the quiet solitude of a country road. And, what really draws us in is the really cool energy of hundreds of boaters who have all made way for this special island for an escape.

We depart from a beautiful port on the Connecticut shoreline and take you along to enjoy some northeast boating magic with us. You’ll learn about the Block Island experience and even get to see Jasper return to his love of fishing! Plus we try out our new e-bikes – and be sure to stick around ‘till the end to see our tender’s new accessory – definitely a one-of-a-kind.

We’re thrilled to have you aboard!

    1. Hey William - We have jacks for our autopilot remote at both helm stations which were installed at the factory, but the job would only be as difficult as the cable run in our case. Modern APs have wireless remotes so it would obviously be as easy as the pairing process. Cheers!
  1. Thank you for another fantastic video of your journeys. Looks like all went well to and back from block Island. I don't think I could talk Beans into one of those new fancy bikes, but I sure wouldn't mind a starlink for Prudence. Peace and Love Pauly
    1. Happy you were along for the ride Pauly. Of course we will always think of our time there together whenever we go to Block. And you are so right about the bikes!
  2. This is a super overview of BLOCK from a boaters' perspective. Great job. We couldn't get to BLOCK this year but hope to see you there next year. - Jim and Karen on M/V Lemon Drops.
    1. So glad you enjoyed it! As you can imagine it is tough to capture it so we're happy to know we at least gave a good sense of what it's like to be there by boat, at least at a dock. See you out there!
